I can't believe I'm writing the first BLOG for Amy's Table. Frankly I'm not super sure what I'm doing with this website, but I've got a lot of support from techie, nerdy friends and kids that have a lot more going on in this department than I do.
Amy's Table has been a long time coming. Actually, a lifetime coming. I've heard it said (I think by Confucius) to "Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life". Well Amy's Table combines so many things that I love. I LOVE to cook and bake. I love to have friends and family into my home and feed them! I love my life living in freedom from alcohol and nicotine! I am such a lucky woman! Now my dream is to put the combination together and create a home atmosphere where either I or a guest will create a dish and share it with guests around a table. I believe that freedom from chemicals can happen when we're in relationship with healthy people who understand the pain of being controlled by a chemical substance. I also believe that people are better because of healthy, supportive relationships where they can be honest and be supported, and loved. When I was a kid my family would always share the evening meal around a very large dining room table (I'm 1 of 15 children). My mother would prepare large size pans of spaghetti, casseroles (we in Minnesota call it Hot Dish)........basically any recipe that would feed 17 people. These are memories that I will never forget because it was an opportunity to get to hear about my siblings days, to laugh, to cry, to sing, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the occasional lecture from dad about some of our antics - there were plenty. Anyway, I digress. What I'm trying to say is that I believe relationship happens around a table where good food is served, conversation is had, and love and support are given. And that's what Amy's Table is. I invite you to follow along as we take this journey together. I'll read and respond to your comments and I hope to be able to supply suggestions to the show as it develops. By the time you are reading this post, there should be an episode uploaded to this website. I'll be the only one doing the cooking/baking for the first episode but am hopeful to have a guest chef in the kitchen with me for Episode 2. Follow along, pass the word. I'm hoping this site can be a place where all feel welcome to enjoy the recipes and support it brings. Thanks for reading......until next time!
